ABB VEM4 – Mechanical and electrical interlock assembly for ABB contactors (AF09 … AF38)

The VEM4 is a mechanical and electrical interlock assembly for side-by-side interlocking of two AF09 … AF38 or AFC09 … AFC38 contactors without additional width. This assembly, in fact, facilitates installation and optimizes available space, making it highly efficient for compact configurations.

The VEM4 set includes a VM4 mechanical interlock unit with 2 clips (BB4) and a VE4 electrical interlock unit with A2-A2 connection. By attaching the electrical unit to the front of the contactors, the two built-in N.C. contacts connect the coils directly. This reduces wiring by up to 50% compared to a standard electrical interlock, providing a big boost in efficiency.

It is important to note, however, that the VE4 block must be used with the A2-A2 connection in order to comply with the electrical connection diagram, thereby ensuring optimum, safe system operation.
